When searching for information about a university, your best bet is to first contact the 'Secretaría de Extensión Universitaria y Bienestar Estudiantil' or the Department of International Relations department at the university. Typically registration for undergraduates is between mid-November and mid-December, though check with the university for exact dates; contact the 'Vicerrectoría Académica' or the department of admissions and registration.
In general, the sanitary conditions are satisfactory and modern. The precautions to take are the same as in any subtropical country. In the North, for instance, there is always the risk of cholera and dengue. Remember that there are four seasons in Argentina, territories in the extreme south, and the effects of altitude. Argentina has the highest mountain in the Western hemisphere: Aconcagua, which is 6 959 meters high!

To make an application for a student visa, you will need the following documents:
- A valid passport
- Certificate of admission to a local university certified by the Minister of Education.
- A physical and mental exam (form supplied by the consulate).
- A copy of your birth certificate, and marriage certificate, if applicable.
